If you lost your home or essential belongings in the Summerland wildfire, Critteraid would like to help you access immediate basics and connect you with neighbours who may have specific items you need.
A Respectful Place to Begin
You do not need to know everything you will need right now. Recovery takes time. You may begin with immediate basics and add or change requests later as your situation becomes clearer.
How Critteraid Can Help
- Recovery shopping at the Critteraid Thrift Store from 8:00 a.m. to noon on announced recovery-shopping days, before regular public hours.
- Immediate basics that are available in store, such as clothing, boots, gloves, temporary dishes and household necessities.
- A private Resident Request Form for specific items you need now or later.
- An anonymous public Recovery Needs List so community members can offer a requested item.
- Coordination of an approved store drop-off, pickup or direct delivery after a match is confirmed.
How To Make a Request
- Complete the Resident Request Form online or in person.
- Call Critteraid and a volunteer can complete the form with you.
- Tell us what you need, including size, quantity, dimensions and how soon it is needed.
- Let us know whether you can pick the item up or may need delivery assistance.
Your Privacy
Your name, address, phone number, email, current location, household details and private circumstances will not appear on the public list. If you agree, the public will see only an anonymous item number, the requested item, relevant details, priority and status.
You may choose internal matching only, decline any offered item, or ask Critteraid to remove or change a request.
What Happens After you Submit
A Critteraid coordinator will review your request and contact you if clarification is needed. When a suitable item is offered, we will confirm with you before accepting it or arranging transportation. Availability cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to connect actual needs with practical community support.
For the wider community: please wait until an item appears on the Recovery Needs List before bringing it to Critteraid. This protects limited space and ensures donations are connected to an actual request.
