About the Critteraid Team

In 1991, Critteraid was formed with a Board of Directors of 5 individuals. In 1994, we became a registered charity federally (Summerland Cat Sanctuary #89308-0770-RR0001) and a non-profit in British Columbia devoted to animal welfare. Critteraid is based on their own 10-acre farm in Summerland, British Columbia.

Over the years, Critteraid has grown from the initial cat sanctuary to include several additional divisions: Dog House Division, Critteraid Farm, CDART, Education, Outreach. We have made some mistakes along the way. We have learned to temper our growth with the number of volunteers who commit to caring for the animals. Community support is vital to a charity like Critteraid where fundraising is constant in order to provide the necessary means for veterinary costs, operational costs and maintenance costs.

Critteraid has been affected by the downturn in the economy like so many other charitable organizations. I am proud to be a part of a Board of Directors who takes great pride in their fiduciary responsibility while always focusing on the animals that are in our care. The women and men who volunteer their time and support within Critteraid are amazing individuals who are second to none when it comes to standing tall amidst animal welfare representatives.
